The tour is done in groups of 8- 11 people so you can meet and talk to other travelers. Being in a group will give you the chance to challenge yourself, No one wants to be the last one. However, this is an experience of 5 days disconnected in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Day 1

4 hours a hike - 1 or 2 spots to swim.
  • You will be picked up between 7:30 - and 8:30 am to be driven to the office and complete the payment.

  • Lunch at the village called Mamey or Machete Pelao.We will start the walk from this point.

  • This is a walk during the afternoon for 4 -5 hours until camp #1.

  • Time to swim in the Natural Swimming pool.

  • Talk about our farmers and the history of the region.

  • Dinner and Introduction of the Staff. 

Day 2

8 hour hike - 3 spots to swim.
The second day is going to be mostly throughout the indigenous reservation of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.
  • Approximately 4 hours until Mumake camp.

  • The first 2 hours are uphill. This part could be the most demanding part of the morning.

  • Break At the top of the mountain.

  • 2 more hours from the top of the mountain until Camp Mumake.

  • Time to swim, and relax before Lunch.

After a nap. We Must keep walking for 4 more hours until Lorenzo Camp.
  • 2 more Hours From Mumake camp to the top of the mountain. This is a demanding part of the trek.

  • Once at the top, an amazing dish full of oranges and pineapple will be waiting for us to refresh a bit before continuing.

  • From the top of the mountain, 2 more hours to reach Camp #3 (Lorenzo Camp).

  • This is the place for us to rest the second night and it is located just 1,5 km away from our main target, The Lost City.

  • We will get to Paso Lorenzo on time to have a swim and relax next to The Buritaca river before dinner.

  • Dinner and information to be ready before the big day.

Day 3

This is the big day!
We will reach Sacred City.
2 spots to swim.
  • We start our walk around 6:00 am.

  • It takes 40 minutes approximately to get to the first steps (1.200 steps). Then 20-30 minutes up the steps to get to the first platforms of the archeological site.

  • We will walk around the city recognizing this archeological and sacred place for the indigenous tribes in La Sierra for about 4 hours.

  • Some time for yourself to connect with this massive place and feel its energy.

After visiting the city we will walk back to Lorenzo Camp to have lunch and get ready to continue.

  • After Lunch, we have some time to rest and perhaps a swim before continuing our way back to Camp #2.

  • 3 hours Walking back from Camp #3 to Mumake Camp #2.

  • We will be back in Mumake Camp in time to swim again in the Buritaca River, rest, and have dinner.

Day 4

3 hours a hike during the morning.
  • 1 hour 30 minutes walk, mostly uphill from Mumake Camp to the top of the mountain. This is a very demanding part of the day.

  • Once at the top, we will walk for 1 hour and 30 min more until Camp #1. This part is mostly downhill.

  • In camp #1 We will have some natural juice and snacks to refresh after the hike.

  • Time to relax at the natural swimming pool.

  • Lunch.

  • Time to rest for the rest of the afternoon at camp #1, reading a book or perhaps just talking to the locals who live in the Camp.

  • Dinner around 6:00 pm.

Day 5

Time to go home!
3-4 hours until El Mamey.
  • After a delicious Breakfast and a cup of coffee, We will start walking.

  • 1 Hour uphill. Very demanding part of the day.

  • 2 more hours Mostly downhill to Finish this incredible adventure.

  • In Mamey a nice Lunch will be waiting for us, also the cars that will take us to Santa Marta.

  • We will be Back in Santa Marta between 4:00 Pm and 5:00 Pm.

What to Bring?

The Lost City trek is not an easy tour.
Every single day you will hike through a dense humid forest. Even if the sun is not extremely warm, we will be sweating soo much because of the humidity.
The secret to success during this adventure is taking a light backpack with us.
Here you have some tips about what you will need up there.
  • Small /medium size backpack.

  • Light clothes to walk.Long sleeves shirt, and long pants for the nights.

  • Comfortable shoes to walk (hiking boots / running shoes.

  • Flip flops, small towel, swimsuit.Toiletries.

  • Insect repellent, sunscreen. A hat.

  • Cash to buy souvenirs from the indigenous and the farmers.

  • Cash for alcohol or cold drinks at the camps.
