Day 1

  • 8:30 AM Pick up at the hotel and start the tour by car.

  • 3 and a half hours drive from Santa Marta to the village ‘casa e’ tabla’.

  • Two stops before arriving at the village ‘casa e’ tabla’.

  • 12:30 P.m. Arrival at the place to enjoy a local lunch.

  • 1:50 p.m. Walk of approximately 2 hours and a half learning a little of the history of this region and ending our tour at Finca La Cascada.

  • 4:30 Pm Arrival at Finca La Cascada.

  • A special time to rest and enjoy the natural waterfall, river, and swimming pool.

  • 6:30 pm Dinner with the whole group.

  • Short briefing about the next day and time to enjoy a campfire and answer questions.

Day 2

  • DISTANCE: 10 kilometres.

  • DURATION: 6 hours

  • MAXIMUM ALTITUDE: 780 msnm

  • 5:00 AM time to wake up and organize to start the hike.

  • 5:30 AM Local breakfast.

  • 6:20 AM Start of trek.

  • We will start our trek 400 meters above sea level, approximately

  • During this hike we will pass through tropical rainforest and some places of crops abandoned by farmers since 2005, these today are part of the conservation of the mountain.

  • Also on this day depending on the weather conditions we will have a beautiful panoramic view of the snowy peaks and the valley of the river molino (ableyii).

  • 1:00 PM Arrival approximately to the camp which is located next to the indigenous Kogui community ABLEYII.

  • 1:30 PM Delicious local lunch After lunch we will have time to enjoy the Mill Riverr.

  • 4:00 PM Immersion in the indigenous community sharing and learning about the Kogui culture and their fascinating history.

  • 7:30 PM Delicious local dinner with our indigenous friends.

  • Tonight we will sleep in a hammock on the banks of the mill river or in an indigenous name ABLEYII.TANCIA : 10 kilómetros.

Day 3

  • 5:00 AM Time to get up.

  • 5:40 AM Local breakfast.

  • 6:15 AM Start of tour inside Ableyii with members of the community learning the daily activities of the indigenous Koguis of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, coca leaf collection with the women and cassava, bananas, and other activities with the men that are only done in the early hours of the day as a tradition.

  • 9:30 AM Snacks and we will start the walk back through indigenous and peasant territory until we arrive at Finca La Cascada.

  • 5 hours walk to Finca La Cascada.

  • 2:30 AM Delicious local lunch.

  • 3:30 PM Return to Santa Marta. 00 AM Hora de levantarse.

What to bring

Every day you walk through a dense rainforest. Although the sun is not extremely hot, you will sweat a lot because of the humidity.
