This is  an encounter not only with nature but also with our inner strength.

Day 1

Santa Marta -El Mamey town.
El Mamey - Camp #1 Adam Camp

  • You will be picked up between 6:30 and 7:00 in the morning.

  • Drive to the office to arrange the payment and store big luggage.

  • 2 hours and 30 minutes drive From Santa Marta to El Mamey Hometown.

  • Brunch before starting the hike to The Lost City.

  • Short introduction of the town and the region in general.

  • Ride by motorbike from El Mamey to Vista Hermosa Viewpoint. (25 minutes)

We will start the walk from this point.
This is a walk for 1 hour and 30 minutes until camp #1 Adam camp.

  • Stunning views from the top of the mountain all the way downhill until camp #1.

  • Time to swim in the Natural Swimming pool.

  • Lunch and Introduction of the rest of the Staff.

During the afternoon our local guides will share some information about:
  • When and why farmers from all over the country decided to settle in the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.

  • How They have kept the soil and the resources of nature fertile and healthy enough until nowadays.

  • Development of farmers through tourism and The Lost City Trek until nowadays.

  • Dinner and information about the next day.

Day 2

Hike from camp #1 to Mumake Campsite.

This second day is going to be mostly throughout the indigenous reservation of the Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.

  • The first 2 Hours of Uphill.

  • Amazing views. Almost 6 km. This is the first pretty demanding part of the Lost City tour.

  • A break of 25 minutes at the top of the mountain.

Quick Explanation about the indigenous reservation of the Sierra Nevada the Santa Marta.

  • 1  hour and 30 minutes, almost 4 km downhill until the indigenous town. ( Mutanshy ).

  • After a quick stop for some information and pictures, We will continue for 45 more minutes to a very nice swimming spot.

After almost 4 hours of walking, We will have time to enjoy the Buritaca River.

  • After swimming, It'll be the perfect time for a delicious Lunch.

  • After lunch, You will be able to have a quick nap. After taking a brief nap We must keep walking for 3 more hours until Asprilla Viewpoint.

  • The hike is mostly uphill, 3 km During the afternoon.

Asprilla Viewpoint is our last stop to recharge our energies and continues to our final destination Lorenzo Campsite.
  • Just 2 more hours going slowly from Asprilla's viewpoint until Lorenzo campsite.

  • At the camp, We will have time to change our clothes and go to have a swing in the Buritaca River,

  • Time for some coffee and snacks before Dinner.

  • Dinner.

  • Some time to receive information from our local guide about The Lost City.

  • Amazing place to see the stars.

Day 3

Time to go to The Lost City.

Start our walk around 7:00 am.

  • It takes a bit more than 30 minutes approximately to get to the first step 1.200 steps. (Still, original rocks used by the Tayronas).

  • 20-30 minutes to get to the first platforms of the archeological site Buritaca. 200 - The Lost City.

  • We will walk around The Lost City recognizing this archeological and sacred place for the indigenous tribes for around 5-6 hours.

  • Free time to walk around The Lost City, accompanied by your local and Bilingual guide to respond to all your questions.

  • After visiting The Lost City We walk back to Lorenzo camp to have lunch.

  • After Lunch, time to rest, and swim before continuing way back to camp #2.

  • 3 hours Walking back from Camp #3 to Mumake Campsite

  • We will be back at Mumake camp in time to swim again in the Buritaca River, rest, and have dinner.

Day 4

A new adventure Begins.
We will walk through a new path opened by farmers and indigenous from The Lost City Trek.
Time to visit the Ancestral Waterfalls in the Sierra Nevada.

2 hours and 40 minutes walking through this dense jungle. Banana trees, coffee, and cacao trees are next to the Buritaca Ri and are also surrounded by the most ancient trees ever seen around.

  • 2 Hours and 40 minutes until our first waterfall.

  • Time to swing avernd have some snacks before continuing to our next spot.

  • 1 hour walking through The Sierra Nevada jungle.

  • 2 times crossing the Buritaca River. (Barefoot or with water shoes).

  • 2nd waterfall to enjoy a little swing.

  • 45 more minutes of walking to the new Camp.

Camp the Waterfalls is a really special place. Big enough for just a few tourists and perfect for having a lovely lunch surrounded by Nature.

  • Lunch.

  • Hammocks for a nap after lunch.

  • Time to go to the 3rd Waterfall. Enjoy nature and some Coffee or tea in front of this amazing place.

  • Time to enjoy with your guide, the rest of the locals, and the stories of the farmers and indigenous.

  • Dinner. 

  • Bonfire before going to bed.

Day 5

Time to go home.
We have a big day to go back home.

  • A Colombian cup of Coffee every morning.

  • Breakfast at 5:30 Am.

  • Before We start walking We will have time to have a cold swim at the last waterfall close to our camp.

8:00 Am time to start our way back home.

  • 5 km hiking mostly uphill. (very demanding part of the tour).

  • A horse guided by a farmer will take our bags up.

  • At the top of the mountain, a local Moto taxi will be waiting for you. 

  • Ride by motorbike mostly downhill. 25 minutes 6 km.

  • End of the tour at El Mamey town.

  • Lunch and last Toast together before living.

  • Our car is going to be ready to drive us to Santa Marta.

  • Back to Santa Marta between 4:00 - 5:00 pm.

What to Bring?

The Lost City trek is not an easy tour.
Every single day you will hike through a dense humid forest. Even if the sun is not extremely warm, we will be sweating so much because of the humidity.
The secret to success during this adventure is taking a light backpack with us.
Here you have some tips about what you will need up there.

  • Small /medium size backpack.

  • Light clothes to walk.

  • Long sleeves shirt, and long pants for the nights.

  • Comfortable shoes to walk (hiking boots / running shoes.

  • Flip flops, small towel, swimsuit.

  • Toiletries.

  • Insect repellent, sunscreen.

  • A Hat.

  • Cash to buy souvenirs from the indigenous and the farmers.

  • Cash for alcohol or cold drinks at the camps.

  • Tips for the guides.
