My family with kids just returned from the Lost City Trek and it was an awesome experience! We are very well guided by Abraham Molina of Wiwa Walker He speaks perfect English and knows a lot about this area, Colombia in general, and the indigenous people, Luis (a local guide) has roots in the area and Suleima is a cook. Wiwa Walker had permission to sleep with us (any group) in the Lost City, which was of course very special. We had the evening, night, and morning to walk around there.

We ate well, slept well, and had all weather conditions. It's not a walk in the park, but a huge adventurous and educational trek to do as seen. We will never forget this again! I would advise everyone and certainly families to do this trek with Wiwa Walker.

Hola, I don't usually make recommendations but here I have to! Just went through Wiwa Walker for the Ciudad Perdida trek and it was just insane! If you are looking for a serious agency: small group only! We are far from the factory of other big agencies. Luis (our guide), Abraham (translator with great English), and Zuleyma (our cook) have been amazing (kind, competent, arranger, kind, patient... They did their best to make sure we ran into as little a group as possible on the march! In short, get dark! The trek is difficult but very beautiful.

If somebody plans to do the Lost City Trek in Colombia, I can recommend this amazing experience. I went on a 4-Day-Hike, without big expectations, but it was just insane. We went through spectacular nature, ate very good food, met indigenous and had a really good time. Luckily I got booked via hostel to go with the best of the 8 organisations. WiwaWalker can make the most out of your trip! Why? They take a maximum of 8 people which is a perfect size of a group, they can bring you to places the big groups can not go. They are locals and very experienced, you can ask them everything and they will always have an answer. And they are super nice, organized, and fun. Wiwawalker will pick you up from your place to stay and will bring you back. If you want to walk with the best of the best, go with WiwaWalker!

I asked about the tour via Facebook messenger and Alex responded immediately. The communication was fantastic. All my questions were answered within hours. Alex helped with everything from hotel recommendations in Santa Marta to booking recommendations about the local culture.

The guides:

Our guides were very knowledgeable about indigenous beliefs and customs. Our guide, Nester, did a great job translating for us. We enjoyed our guide Martin's stories of growing up in a traditional indigenous village. His knowledge of ecology was lacking. They were very helpful and always keeping an eye on us. My son really liked Nester and they became best friends. They were always ready with a snack or drink or important information. They did a great job explaining each day's activities and distances. They did a great job preparing us for each day's challenges. The guides were very attentive, however, you need to be prepared for any personal needs. Make sure you are prepared for blisters, rashes, muscle cramps, insect bites and diarrhea - bring a personal first aid kit! Be sure to bring plenty of cash, there is a good chance you can carry your backpack or even get a ride on a motorcycle or mule if necessary, but everything costs moreT

The hike:

We are a family of four. My wife and I are in our 50s and our children are 10 and 13.

We consider ourselves a very athletic family and tend to take hiking time recommendations and cut them in half for our family. We found this hike to be very challenging. One must be aware that the climbs are steep, it is very hot and the footing is poor. I would recommend trekking poles. Our kids did great. I would not hesitate to recommend this trip to adventurous families. Extremely rewarding experience for the whole family. Our children's entire experience goes beyond anything they would learn in a book or from school. Every meal was diverse and delicious. The quantity was adequate for children and adults and we could always have more if needed. Their packing recommendations were adequate. Definitely bring 4 socks! I would only add the above mentioned: full first aid kit and trekking poles.
